I’m Training for a Marathon

I had nothing better going on in my life, so I thought, hey why not train for a marathon?! NOT EXACTLY. The capricious decision unfolded over two glasses of yummy Cabernet at the OKC Thunder Basketball game a few weeks with a couple of friends. It’s amazing what you will commit to under the influence. LOL!!! I tend to have an obsessive personality when it comes to committing to projects. The first marathon I will be running in is the Redbud 5K.

I joined a gym and have been either cycling, running or weight-training every night. I love it. I’m feeling more confident and buff. I’m developing muscles I never knew were underneath all that (cough) “bingo flab.” Ha! And, the proceeds for the marathon goes to local charities, which is a win-win. If I don’t pass out or die, I plan on doing the Fun in the Sun or Hot in the Sun marathon in June. My long-term goal is to raise enough money so I can run away RUN the marathon in Hawaii and wear a suntan and lei.

So, tell me… have you ever trained for a marathon? Which ones did you run in? Did you die? Please share your experiences!

LicoriceCandyCloseup

The word rice is found in the word licorice. Also, the word “lic” and the letter “o.” I thought that was kinda cool. Welcome to this week’s post of ‘On the Road with Wildcat’s Wife.’ Over the weekend, Wildcat and I spent some quality time together and went exploring in the convertible. We drove to [...]

Subscribe in a reader Twitter @CarrieCrain Welcome to Marriage Mondays where marriage is an adventure. And, like any adventure, there is proper prepping to ensure a successful “vacation.” You wouldn’t backpack in Costa Rica without packing appropriate attire and gear, e.g., bug repellant and hiking boots. Well, the same goes for marriage. Wildcat and I [...]

WW-Chaps

Just to clarify… this is not from my spy novel. This is an excerpt from a comedy/adventure/crime story I’m working on. There’s some romance but it doesn’t dominate the piece, therefore, I wouldn’t classify it in the genre “romance.” There is a hint of a memoir narrative threaded throughout. I have changed the title a [...]

XmasCard-2005

I like to dress up my dogs and photograph them for the ‘Crain Christmas Cards’. I began this silly ritual back in 1999 with the adoption of our beagle… Buddy aka Fat Bastard. But, years later, in 2005, I progressed (maybe). I began experimenting and goofing off with Adobe Photoshop. And, not having a clue [...]
